Click here to Download the Brochure The 11th SAARCLAW Annual Conference and the 8th SAARC Chief Justices’ Conference are scheduled to be held in Paro, Bhutan from 10th June 2005 to 12th June 2005. The Conferences are being hosted by the Bhutan Chapter of SAARCLAW and their venue shall be the Olathang Hotel, Paro. The annual SAARCLAW Conferences are an endeavor on the part of SAARCLAW to bring together all of SAARCLAW fraternity and the legal communities within the SAARC region for closer co-operation, developing understanding, promoting exchange of ideas and dissemination of information; and to use and develop law as a source and an instrument towards social change for development as well as for building co-operation among the people of the region. Like every year this year also the Conference, which is being hosted by the Bhutan Chapter of SAARCLAW, is expected to draw a large gathering of legal fraternity from the SAARC Countries, including the eminent Judges, lawyers, academicians, government/public servants and law students.. The focal theme of the 11th SAARCLAW Conference is ‘Law and Development- Bridging the gap’, and the main areas of deliberations shall be Freedom of Expression, Media Laws, International Law, Anti-Money Laundering, Gross National Happiness and the Law, Globalization, WTO and Foreign Direct Investment, Supreme Court as arbiter under the Constitution, Constitutional Guarantees and Gender Justice, Contemporary Challenges in Family Law – Role of Courts, Courts and Digital Technology, Alternative Dispute Resolution – A Regional Perspective and Combating Corruption.
